Find 5 Ways to Make Art With your Kids in this art idea tutorial that provides the perfect art ideas for kids. In this article I am going to dive into some different ways that you can make art together at home with your child or family. These are all easy to implement and will be engaging for everyone to help you guys get creating at home.

As well, creating art together is a fabulous way for quality family time together. You can sit together at a counter or kitchen table and just make together, talk to each other, and see how each individual creates and develops their own ideas.

I know that finding ideas for making art can be challenge, so here are 3 of my favorite ideas that you can create at home in an open-ended way for family art projects and family connection.

Photography Scavenger Hunt

The first activity that I love is to create a photography scavenger hunt for inside your home. As a group0, come up with a list of 5-10 things that everyone has to take a picture of using any type of device or camera.

Next, go out, find the things in your home and try and capture the image. Use different angles or zoom close or stay far away to capture the object.

If you are sharing the device, take turns at each object.

At the end, you can look at the photographs together and see how each is different despite it being the same tool and subject. This way you can see how each artist is different and sees the world differently. It is a beautiful exercise. 

Word Inspirated Illustrations

Next idea is to create illustrations inspired by a word. Sit at the table and draw together with a variety of different art mediums for each person to choose from.

As a family or group, pick a WORD. Any word. It could be something special to your family, random from a dictionary, a word that can be seen from where you're sitting, or any other reason.

Next, each person should write the word somewhere on the page and then use it as a source of inspiration. Put on some zen or mindful music and start drawing.

Drawing Prompt Ideas

This one allows for choice art making mediums. Grab something to draw with and something to draw on and get snacks and meet at the kitchen table. Next, you will want to pick something from this list to draw:
